If you want discounts, you'd get that from one of their official distributors. So thats the reasons I've commonly seen for using unifi. For a lot of old houses, without ethernet runs, its expensive to get ethernet runs around the house. For APs or anything. In that instance, it makes a lot of sense to go with a mesh network. And I think it bears mentioning, that ubiquiti APs are mesh compatible. Yes, but home is honestly my alpha test before I move to testing at work. At work I have 187 UAP-AC-HD APs (we are testing a dozen U6-LR units), 84 L2 POE (US-24-250 and US-24-500 switches.) Support from ubiquiti is pretty minimal. They don’t have a conventional support model you pay out the nose for. Maybe. If you use VLANs to separate networks (perhaps IOT, servers, and user-machines), it's a whole lot easier to set up and maintain in a pure Unifi environment.
