I can get it to turn on in the cool and heat profiles but cant get it to come on when I just want the fan on without heat or cool. The reason I want this is because I dont need heat ... . Ok you have a wiring issue between the unit and the thermostat. The RED wire is the 24 volt wire so that would be the one that is likely grounded somewhere. You could go to the store and get a new thermostat cable. Take a short whip and connect the new cable to the unit and the thermostat and see.
